Santo Prohibido - See No Evil
Inspired by the Chango Mezcalero, a clay vessel once used to discreetly hide agave spirits during prohibition. This limited release honors Bacanora's outlawed past in Sonora. Crafted from wild agaves grown for over 90 years at Rancho San Isidro. Limited to 300 bottles.
Chango Mezcalero is traditionally a clay bottle in the shape of a monkey, dating back to the mid-1800s. It was used as a bottle to market mezcal and sell it to the public for special occasions. Our new contemporary Chango Prohibido plays homage to these old bottles from Oaxaca, also since Bacanora is technically a mezcal. Our bottles are environmentally friendly by being: zero lead, zero cadmium, made from a stoneware type material burned at a high temperature of 1200°C and does not absorb moisture, making it more hygienic. Each numbered bottle comes in a wooden gift box with a special Mezcalito stoneware glass.
